The Okolona "Kids First" Parent Center is part of the Office of Federal Programs. The center functions as a lending and resource library allowing parents to check out educational materials for use at home.
Purpose: To bring the home and school closer together by promoting parent involvement with the school and to benefit the education of our children.
Goal: To enable parents to work more effectively with their children at home so that all students will have a better understanding.
OMSSD parents can sign up for online access to their child’s grades, attendance, and discipline records.
The coordinator will work with parent to bring child in to complete assignments. This will be done by scheduled appointments.
Parent are invited to participate in scheduled meeting, workshops, computer training, and the Annual Parent Involvement Conference.
Enrichment materials are available for lower and upper grade students.
The resource materials are used to strengthen and support the Benchmark skills taught in the classroom. Parents may obtain a student prescription sheet from the center to be completed by the child’s teacher and faxed or returned to the center. The coordinator will prepare individual packets basic on teacher recommendation.
Summer study booklets are available upon request for students in grades Pre-K thru 8th and SATP.
Teacher resource materials are also available.
